The people you meet in your lives will vary, ebb and flow with time. It seems like the times you have with people is transient and that makes you fear that your interaction will, always, stay perfunctory. And if that isn’t sad, I don’t know what is.
I don’t like the word – acquaintance – because it seems to me a euphemism for a Somewhat Stranger. But yet the word – friends – sometimes seem too fragile to be used on just anyone. Is there a criteria to be one? Is there a strategy to find one?
Human relationships are complicated and sometimes, heartbreaking. But we still go on forming (and then breaking) them anyway. It seems to me that people are meant to only have a select few people around them they can truly be themselves with. And maybe that’s why people go on forming (and breaking) relationships – to find that select few or maybe just one. But it does seem so hard doesn’t it?
